Consider a new matches operator

Description

The idea is basically a "is null or equals" operator. See

Including the MySQL operator, the complete list of possibilities include:

  • where a.name ~ 'steve'

  • where a.name (=) 'steve'

  • where a.name ?= 'steve'

  • where a.name <=> 'steve'

  • where a.name matches 'steve'
