Description

Section 19.2 of the documentation does not show Ehcache as supporting clusters. It does.

The only reason I am asking for this is that people are confused about it and are asking me questions over at the ehcache project.

e.g. see the following email to the list.

Subject: [ehcache-list] Using ehcache as a clustered cache in hibernate3

Hi all,

current version of ehcache implements distributed caching but hibernate3 docs says that ehcache is not cluster safe.

Anyone know the reason why it's not possible to use ehcache in such a scenario?

Thanks
Paolo

i don't know of anyone implementing/verifying that the ehcache clustering mode works with hibernate as its second level cache.....until then its hard to not write it is not supported.

Greg, have you been able to verify that Ehcache clustering works with Hibernate as the L2 cache?

The documentation stating that a particular provider does/does not support clustering is indicative of whether is supports clustering in how Hibernate utilizes it...

I am using it on a single machine between two processes, in asynchronous invalidating mode and it seems to be working. If that worths something...
